Circulars 681 and 705 of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas:
Revised Check Clearing and Settlement Processes
Effective January 24, 2011, ALL banks are required to return unfunded inward clearing checks to the Philippine Clearing House Corporation or Regional Clearing Centers not later than 7:30am of the day following the original date of presentation. As a result, checking account holders will no longer have the opportunity to fund incoming checks in cases of insufficient account balances.
Please note the following:
• Checks drawn against insufficient funds will be returned with corresponding penalties charged to the account
• Drawing of funds against uncleared deposits (DAUD) will not be allowed
• Checks with Stop Payment Orders shall be returned automatically
